The Eurasier is a new breed of dog that was developed in Germany beginning in the 1960's. Julius Wipfel, the founder, intended to create a family-friendly dog, and many colleagues joined him in the work. Their dream was eventually realized -- the Eurasier, given proper training and an understanding of its unique character, is indeed the right dog for many people to include as a cherished member of their family.

Members of the North American Eurasier Committee created "Eurasier Rescue" -- a thorough set of protocols and the documentation required to rescue any Eurasier in need, and to arrange for its transfer to a new, permanent home. The NAEC also laid the foundation for creation of closely associated US and Canadian national Eurasier clubs: The Eurasier Club of Canada (ECC) and the United States Eurasier Club (USEC). With the growing interest in Eurasiers, the need was recognized for country-specific organizations that would be able to have much greater influence and control regarding the future of the Eurasier breed. The NAEC shall remain, primarily as a bridge between the two Clubs -- a common and regular meeting ground for the sharing of ideas and discussion of issues, and with a philosophy of doing what's best for the Eurasier breed in both countries.
